A trapped piece has no safe square. It is not pinned. It simply cannot move without being captured, and it cannot be defended where it stands.

Knights on the rim and bishops that have bitten on granite (a pawn chain on their color) are the usual victims. Attack the piece once and it has nowhere to go.
