How the set is built

The source database has 6,157,341 puzzles. The daily set is a slice of the quality-filtered ones: popularity at least 80, at least 500 plays, rating 1200 to 1700, and 1 to 3 moves for you to find. Themes are spread out so the same main theme does not sit on six days in a row when the pool allows it.

Dated pages such as 2026-10-18 show that day's puzzle. They are for looking back, and they are not indexed.

Questions

Which puzzle is today's?

The set has 366 puzzles and starts on 2026-10-18. The page uses the UTC date in your browser to pick one. A date before the start, or after the set ends, wraps around the same list.

How were these puzzles chosen?

Each one meets the quality bar (popularity at least 80 and at least 500 plays), is rated 1200 to 1700, and asks you for 1, 2, or 3 moves. The picker also skips a puzzle when its main tactic theme already appeared in the previous six picks, until the set is full.

Are past dates indexed?

No. Each date has its own address under /daily, and those addresses stay out of the sitemap.
