PuzzlePawn is a free chess practice site. You can solve puzzles and play through named opening lines in the browser. There is no account and no paywall.

The puzzle pages use a popularity-ranked subset of a public puzzle database (19,984 puzzles on this site, from 6,157,341 in the file dated 2026-10-02). The opening pages use a public opening book of 3,865 lines. Names, licenses, and file dates are on the data sources page.

Progress for the puzzle trainer and the opening trainer stays in this browser. Advertising may appear once an ad client is configured. Until then, the pages do not load an ad script.

Puzzle ratings on the pages are ratings from the source database. They are not a rating of you.
