Quiet move

A quiet move is not a check and not a capture. It threatens something the opponent cannot meet, often mate on the next move, or it improves a piece so that every defense loses.

If the checks do not work, look for a move that threatens mate without giving check. Quiet moves are easy to miss because they do not force an immediate reply by rule, only by the threat.
