Every puzzle in this set ends in checkmate. The pattern changes from puzzle to puzzle: back rank, smothered mate, a queen mate, or a longer net.

Start with checks. If a check is not mate, see whether it also takes away flight squares for the next check. The mate in N pages split the same idea by length.
