Advanced pawn
An advanced pawn is a pawn that has reached the far side of the board, usually the sixth rank or beyond. The tactic is about promoting it, or about the threat of promotion, which ties the opponent's pieces down.
Count the square the pawn will promote on, and see which enemy piece has to watch it. If that piece also has another job, you can often deflect it.
